AMBIENT AIR MONITORING

Open air, in which Humans and other organisms live and breathe, is defined as ‘Ambient Air’. Humans, Industry & other day to day activities directly impact its Content and Quality. Ambient Air Quality too, directly affects both Public Health and the Welfare of the Ecosystem. Ambient Air Monitoring involves Systematic, Long-term Assessment of Pollutant Levels based on measurements of Quantity and Types of Certain Pollutants in the Surrounding, Outdoor air.

Air Quality Monitoring is carried out to assess the extent of pollution, ensure compliance with National Legislation, Evaluate Options for Control, and collate Data for Air Quality Modeling. The locations of Monitoring Stations depend on the purpose of Monitoring.

Most Monitoring Networks are designed with Human Health objectives in mind. As such, the Monitoring Stations are established in Populated Centres. Measurement of Contaminant Type and Quantity constitutes an important part of the Data Collection Process and helps implement Meaningful Control Programs. As such, Ambient Air Quality has to be monitored on a regular basis. EFRAC analyzes all 12 Mandatory Parameters laid down by the CPCB.

The LIMS at EFRAC enables Digitized Integration of Data thus helping maintain Data Confidentiality. EFRAC’s trained QA and CRM teams address various questions regarding Guidelines, Methods, and Standards applicable to various Matrices.
